About Calphalon®

Perrysburg may be a small suburb of Toledo, Ohio, but small Perrysburg stands out in a big way as the founding home of Calphalon Cookware. In 1963 Ronald Kasperzak purchased a tiny metal spinning company in Perrysburg. The new company, Commercial Aluminum Cookware Company, expanded and upgraded commercial aluminum cookware for the cooking market.

In 1968 Commercial Aluminum Cookware adapted a NASA technology developed for the aerospace industry. The new method, called hard-anodizing, treated raw aluminum for cookware. Commercial Aluminum named this new line of hard-anodized aluminum, Calphalon. Known for high temperature cooking for both stovetop and oven, Calphalon soon rose to the top of brand names within the cooking and food service business.

Seven years later, Calphalon Professional Hard-Anodized launched into the retail market and emerged as a noted success in introducing consumers to superior cookware previously only enjoyed by professional chefs. Calphalon's Professional Nonstick cookware line followed in 1992 and two years later the company introduced Calphalon Utensils and Calphalon Professional Bakeware. Calphalon gained recognition as a kitchenware brand.

In 1997 Commercial Aluminum Cookware Company was renamed Calphalon Corporation and purchased by Newell Rubbermaid the following year. Calphalon became part of the well-known family that includes Little Tikes®, Rubbermaid®, Levelor®, and Graco®.

Calphalon Corporation continued to explore new avenues of improving cookware and by 2000 introduced its Commercial Hard-Anodized and Commercial Stainless-Steel cookware. The Tri-Ply Stainless, Simply Calphalon, and Tri-Ply Copper soon followed. In 2003 Calphalon extended its products to cutlery and introduced the Calphalon Contemporary Nonstick cookware.

Calphalon continued to revolutionize cookware with its new Calphalon® One Infused Anodized, Calphalon® One Nonstick, and Contemporary Stainless lines.

Today only Calphalon offers three essential cooking surfaces to the home chef: infused anodized cookware, stainless-steel cookware, and nonstick cookware. Calphalon's extensive collection includes the saucepans, stockpots, griddles, frying pans, Dutch ovens, roasting pans, and more you'll use for both everyday cooking and extraordinary entertaining.
