General Guidelines Before cleaning, make sure the power is off and blender unplugged.
Wash and rinse the blender jar, and clean the base, immediately after every use. Do not let food residue dry on any part of the jar or blender base.
Sanitize the blender before initial use and whenever the blender will not be used for more than one hour.
Never immerse the blender base or cord in water.
Never use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads.
To extend the life of the polycarbonate jar, KitchenAid® does not recommend washing the jar in the dishwasher.
Washing and Rinsing the Blender Jar Remove the ingredient cap from the jar lid. Rinse the jar, lid and ingredient cap warm under running water to rinse off food residue. Return ingredient cap to lid.
Fill the jar 3/4 full of warm water and add 1 or 2 drops of dishwashing liquid.
Place lid on the jar and place jar on the blender base. Turn the blender to "on" for 30 seconds. Remove the jar and empty contents. Repeat the soapy water steps until no food residue remains in the jar or on the blade assembly.
Rinse the jar by filling it 3/4 full of warm water, then putting on the lid, placing jar on blender base and turning unit to "on" for 30 seconds.
Wipe the exterior of the blender jar and lid with warm soapy water. Wipe clean with a damp cloth and dry with a soft cloth.
Jar is bottom rack dishwasher-safe, but maintains its appearance better with hand-washing. Lid and ingredient cap are top rack dishwasher-safe.
Cleaning the Base Unplug the blender before cleaning the base and cord.
Wipe the blender base and cord with warm soapy water. Wipe clean with a damp cloth and dry with a soft cloth.
