Much-improved design makes really good popcorn
I used the original version of this popper for several years before it finally quit working, but I was never satisfied with it. The older popper was not vented well, making the popcorn tough and sometimes soggy. I even added vents with a drill, but the old model never came close to what I would call "movie popcorn."
Now, this new model looks pretty much the same as the older model, but it is a VAST IMPROVEMENT over the older one. In fact, this new model amounts to a near-complete re-design of the popper, but you really don't become aware of this until you use it.
The entire top surface of the clear bucket is a vent. The solid color cap on top is removeable -- it is similar to a tupper-wear lid -- and is used only if you eat the popcorn right out of the bucket itself. Personally, I prefer a common bowl, so I never use the lid except to keep dust out of the machine when stored.
Speaking of storage, the popper takes up about the same space as a common 12-cup coffee brewer. Thus, it fits in the pantry, in most cabinets, or it can be left on the countertop without sacrificing much space. Like the old model, this new model is completely dishwasher safe (except for the base, of course, which does not get soiled in normal use). There is absolutely NO wiping clean to do.
The two latches that secure the plate to the base, which on the old model had breakage issues, appear to have been redesigned and made stronger. Also, the cooking element, which was exposed on the old model and could burn a finger if accidently touched, is now sealed into the dishwasher-safe popping plate, which means that the base is always cool.
How does the new model perform? It makes really, really good popcorn! Right out of the popper it comes closer to "movie popcorn" than any other home popper I have tried. Virtually every kernal pops, and a single popping is usually enough to feed both my wife and me.

Best popcorn popper
This is a great popper. It's quick, easy, and pops almost every single kernel. And it's easy to clean too. Doesn't get any better than that.

this machine is terrific
I have been addicted to popcorn for a couple of years. I used to think microwave popcorn was one of the twentieth century's greatest inventions. The speed! The convenience! But what is in it? I started to worry. With this machine I know what's in it. Popcorn and a tiny bit of canola oil, that's it. You can butter it or whatever as you wish. Pops great popcorn. If it lasts two years I'll have it paid for with the savings that come with buying bulk popcorn instead of those cardboard boxes full of paper bags. You have to wash it after each use, but hey, why not burn off a few of the calories you just took in?

great popcorn maker
My husband bought this for me as a surprise gift. It works great and is fast. The dog loves to sit and watch the popcorn pop. Orville Reddenbacher-a 1/2 cup fills up the whole container and almost all the kernels pop.

Great tasting popcorn
This popcorn popper is very easy to use. It has a cup to measure the popcorn. You just add the oil and popcorn, put the lid on, press the start button and sit back and watch it pop. I find the popcorn to be fully popped and crisp. I loved this popper so much that I gave it to friends and relatives this christmas. My brother has used this popper everyday since he received it. He also loves the ease of use and the taste of the popcorn. In addition, it looks great sitting on the kitchen counter!

Great!
I received my popcorn maker and immediately made some popcorn. I was so happy I ordered one that day for my granddaughters who have been wanting a popcorn popper for a long time. Very happy with it indeed!!

Excellent machine
I purchased this as a Christmas gift for my nutrition conscious daughter and family. It only uses 1 tablespoon of oil for 10 cups of cooked popcorn...so much better than the microwave bags.
And I am happy to pass on a report that there are only a few kernels of unpopped corn at the end of the pop cycle.
Now, all I need is a smaller version for our family of two!
