Solid wood and MADE IN USA!
I am purchasing this as a gift for an avid baker, so I haven't actually used it. However, it looks to be a very quality item, and is made in the USA, which is a huge bonus. Shipping time was reasonable, and I appreciate the free returns (though I know this won't be going back!).

Solid
I purchased the bakery pin; it has a lovely feel in the hands; a good heft, and covers a lot of dough area.

Best purchase ever
I've always used the old rolling pin left to me by my mother, and her mother before her. I finally decided I needed a new one, and this is the best rolling pin I've ever used. It is so heavy and sturdy, but yet, glides with ease with the ball bearings in the roller handles. It cleans up like a dream, too. I would highly recommend it, and I know I will have it to pass on to my children and grandchildren, someday.

a ittle bit dear but worth the price.
I have seen rolling pins similar for less but you have to check the details. Here you are getting an excellent hard maple roller that is long enough to roll out anything you may ever encounter. The competition low price is often shorter , smaller diameter and/or of a lesser wood. Stick with this stick.

saw this item used on a cooking show and decided to try one. I have never been very proficient using a rolling pin but have found this to be quite easy to use
