Fantastic invention
I have had several instant read thermometers in the past and none of them compare to the Polder Instant Read. It is very efficient and the fact that your hand is not right on top of your meat, when you take a temperature, was a big selling point for me. Love this product.

Looks very well-made and sturdy.
I purchased this as a gift for a person who enjoys preparing food on the BBQ. It looks very good, and seems to be sturdy. I like the fact that an instruction folder is included.

Great for the Grill
Works like a charm and keeps the knuckles from getting grilled, as well.

Good bang for the buck!
Have always wanted an instant read thermometer but was unwilling to spend a fortune on one.
This one fits the bill. Although not truly an "instant read (takes about 2 seconds to register) it functions well enough for my needs. Very easy to use and the display is clearly able to be seen. The long probe helps to keep my hands far enough away from the item I a cooking that I do not risk getting burned. It cleans up in a snap, folds up nicely for storage and, quite honestly feeds my ego when my guests are impressed watching me use it. Guess it makes me look to be a better cook than I truly am.

An Instant Read - If Tip Folded In
The complaint I've seen is that this product is not "instantaneous" with temps. But that's only half true.
In its folded state, it is pretty quick, albeit "instant" is a tiny stretch. UNfolded, the read takes a bit longer.
I am more concerned about having to press a button to unfold the extended tip. It is all too easy to forget that and just pull on the prong, damaging the unit. It should use instead a pressure clip to avoid this.
It is not waterproof like some--one in particular. But I'm just not prepared to spend $99 on a thermometer. Are you?

Good Idea
Overall nice product. to set F* not C* you have to use a toothpick or something small and pointed. User manual doesnt give you that tid bit of info. At least now I dont have to grill my oven thermometer
