Oven Temperature Precision
We have an old Viking gas oven/range and had concerns over the oven temperature for baking. The old dial-thermometer set inside was hard to read, and would occasionally fall on the rack. This is the solution! It was a bit larger than anticipated, but still mounted nicely between control dials above the oven doors. I used double-faced foam tape to secure the mounting bracket, as the magnets would not stick to stainless steel. The probe cables are very thin so do not interfere with the oven door seal. The probe itself is held via a clip to one of the oven racks. The digital display is large an easy to read; and the settings for "set temperature" and "cooking time" are straightforward. The alarm feature audibly tells when the oven is "in the cooking zone", or if it deviates above or below the set point. Every oven should come equipped with one!!

Good Way to Double Check Oven
I used this to test my oven and monitor it separately from the built in thermometer. My oven is nearly 20 years old, and with family coming for Thanksgiving, I wanted better control over the dinner. In a test, the thermometer worked great and with the visual and audible notifications - I feel more comfortable going into the holidays. If only it would clean the house as well. ;-)

Excellent oven thermometer!
This is SO much better than just an ordinary oven thermometer that you place on your rack. You can easily see what is happening with the temperature. My oven runs 75 - 100 degrees hotter than I set it to, which has ruined cakes, casseroles, etc. But not with this thermometer! I should have purchased one years ago! Chef's has done it again!

oven thermomrter
its great it has oven temp and timer for cooking. my i can set now and the food is not over cooked or under cooked. i have a new oven but it was off by 20 degrees. i was able to adjust my oven now everything comes out just right. thank you ken

Good tool for the price
I purchased the thermometer to check the temp of our kitchen oven. My daughter said it was cooking slow. We were surprised that the cooking temp was correct. We were more surprised how much the temp of the oven dropped (35 degrees) when we opened the door during cooking. My mother always said "Do not open the door or your cake will fall". She was correct. I have also used the thermometer to check the temps of my smoker. It worked very well to see the temp gradients of my smoker. We found several spots in the smoker that were cooler or hotter than the door mounted thermometers showed. Always rotate your food.
My only problem with the thermometer is it only has a magnetic base to hold on the oven and our oven is stainless steel.

Totally useless
I ordered two (one for myself and one as a gift), and neither worked. They immediately registered over 400 degrees when the oven was set at 350 (and I know it runs cold), and the old-school oven thermometer I have in there registered about 325. What a pity.

Very accurate instrument
I love the accuracy of thermometer, but there is no place to hang the external part this unit. Frustrating.
