Accurate external meat thermometer
I confirmed the Maverick's accuracy by checking its food temp reading against an instant-read digital probe. They agreed within one degree F. That's why I will continue to use it.
I'm not so sure about the separate oven temp reading but I have no way to check it. It showed my oven reached almost 20º F above its setting but I never have burnt or overbaked bread, pastries, or other foods.
The unit has some annoying design faults: There's no way to choose food temp by type of meat and doneness. You have to know the actual temperature you want the food to reach, and if you overshoot you have to go all the way to the unit's max temp then back to 86° and up again.
There's one audible alarm for both oven and food temperatures. It will always go off for oven temp first, of course, and then it beeps every few seconds forever until the audible alarm is shut off, That disables the food temp alarm, which is the one you need. I had to set desired oven temp way above the actual oven setting to make sure the alarm only went off when desired food temp was reached. There's no reason why there should be an alarm for oven temp anyway - it's only for reference.
The alarm isn't very loud. In a large house or if the cook is outside the alarm could easily go unheard. And then there's the sheath that the probe goes in. It's handy that there is one because it keeps the probe and base unit together, but when I unpacked the unit the probe was stuck so firmly in its sheath that I thought I'd never get it out. I had to pull and twist for several minutes before it finally came free. Since then I've been careful to insert the probe just until some resistance is felt.
So the Maverick Dual-Temp unit has its faults, but it's accuracy makes it useful and I can recommend it.

Accurate and easy to use.
The dual sensor thermometer makes long time smoking easy. It is very accurate in both the oven temp and meat temp. Oven temp reacts very quickly making it easy to set the smoker temp. I wouldn't try and smoke at 225deg without it.

accurate and a thoughtful design.
the dual sensor probe is great, it works, the cable wrapped wire is protected which is great and the dual sensor's make so much sense. We've had several digital thermometers and the sensor's wires always seem to break with very flimsy connections. This one looks like it'll last. There's even a spot to store the probe so it's not a floppin' around when not being used. Way better quality than others I've owned.

Arrived just when I needed it and it worked just as expected

The logic and buttons for operation are confusing and not easy to use. The response time on the meat sensor is slow. For sure not one of my recommendations to others.

I bought this product and another one recently and I am very very happy with both. I always look here before going any where else if I go any where else. They have Fantastic products always. Will be back for more. Always quick and fast shipping.
Thank You MV

Meh, it's ok
The meat thermometer works fine, but the oven thermometer part doesn't truly register the oven temp until the roast is almost done. It takes forever for the temperature to register. I'm not as concerned with that - I really just need the meat thermometer part. The oven thermometer was just a bonus.
