Old-Fashioned
I haven't had cast iron in many years (don't know what happened to the piece I used to have), but am so pleased with how Lodge has improved it. This is a great size for browning meat, thick and heavy, as cast iron is, but the extra handle opposite the regular handle makes it much easier to lift than pans of old. And, the lid is so smart! It is also well-made. I love the quality of this pan and the lid and that it was seasoned out of the box. With more people concerned about what goes into nonstick cookware, this pan is a great substitute and worth the price (all of my nonstick pans have not lasted more than a couple of years, wasting money). There is very little extra work in keeping it seasoned and stored properly, but as with any quality item, you should take the bit of extra time to make sure it is taken care of so it lasts a long time.

Top Quality
Bought this to fry chicken and it does exactly what was expected. Quality is tops. Bought the 12" but the 10" would have fit the stove burners much better.

I love the skillet. It is a bit heavy for this lady of "a certain age" but plan to use it many times.
I especially like the help handle which makes it easier to lift with two hands instead of one.

Great Product !!
I have always wanted a cast iron skillet, but was afraid of it rusting. This is a great skillet, easy clean up , great for cooking cornbread and frying chicken. .

LOVE it!!
I have always been a big fan of cast iron. I've wanted a cast iron skillet with a lid for some time and reviewed many. #1 thing I love about this one: Made in the USA! #2: Preseasoned! #3: I took it out of the box. Washed it. Used it! It's that simple. My mom had given me a Lodge Cast Iron Grill Pan for Christmas and I have used it so much in such a short time. I have had no problems with it at all, so I was sure that this skillet would be of equal quality. I also love the glass lid so that I can keep an eye on my food without taking the lid off. Next on my list is a Dutch Oven, maybe I'll buy myself one for Valentines Day!!

Love it!
Have used it for the past two weeks (today is Nov. 8, 2010) and it has performed beautifully.
For the first 3-5 uses, make sure you add some olive oil or vegetable oil when you are initially heating the pan as it helps to prevent initial sticking. We found that out the first time we cooked eggs in it. Also, make sure you let it preheat a bit before adding food so the heat can release the oil in the pores.
We have used it on our stove, in our oven and on the grill for a variety of items and all have turned out evenly cooked and taste wonderful!
Clean up is a breeze, simply use water (no soap) and a nylon brush, dry immediately after cleaning and then wipe on a layer of oil (preferably while the pan is still warm) and you are ready to go for the next time!
We will never go back to a coated non-stick pan!
