Press a button to select the type of meat (beef, pork, chicken/turkey, veal or lamb) and clip this control onto a pocket or belt. The cradle base with probe transmits readings to the clip-on receiver. This remote control barbecue thermometer gauge shows interior temperature of meat up to a 100' range from the grill and "beeps" to alert you when the temperature has been reached. One of four "taste" levels also lights up on the receiver as a visual reminder of doneness: rare, medium-rare, medium or well done, and registers temperatures from 14 degrees F to 482 degrees F.

Receiver features large LCD readout, count-up/countdown timer and manual programmable function to set specific time/temperature. The built-in LED flashlight is a resourceful addition to this wireless gauge. Press the side button for a hands-on flashlight to spot-check foods when cooking in the dark. Long 9" stainless-steel probe gauges steak, pork cutlet and any thick cut of meat, even a whole chicken or roast. Receiver and cradle/transmitter each features on/off switch; use 2 AAA batteries each, not included. Wipe clean.

Excellent product I smoked some chicken leg quarters for 2hrs on Sunday. The thermometer worked perfectly. I stuck it into the thickest part of the thigh and was able to read the temp throughout the cooking process. I was even able to read the temp from my car parked some 80 feet away from my smoker. I'm not sure if the instructions were on the packaging because I threw it away. Nonetheless, this product was simple and easy to use. I would highly recommend this product for anybody. July 25, 2012

Took all the guess work out Used the Mr. Bar-B-Q remote for the first time last night with short ribs. The ribs came out perfectly and I was able to relax and not feel the need to keep opening the lid to check on them. Great purchase. July 19, 2011

On/OFF switch broken First time using the Wireless remote thermometer the on/off switch (on handheld unit) would not shut the unit off. The switch moves form on to off freely. I had to remove the batteries to shut the unit off. I am checking wirh the company who supplied it to CHEFS to see what warranty if any applies! August 28, 2012

Makes monitoring grilling so convenient I had owned a previous version of this product, which broke when the wire attached to the probe broke off (after several years) at the connection. I appreciate how the device allows me to monitor the progress of the grilling while doing other things in the kitchen. A big plus is identifying when the meat is done, so on average it is juicier, not overcooked. The most recent product has a more durable connection between the probe and the wire than the previous one. July 23, 2012

how do you get it to read the probe temp.? all i see is a dotted line, not real helpful !

just purchased, used once,new batteries. tried on roast beef ,probe in about 3 inches,receiver directly on sending unit,used in gas oven@ 400,probe not in contact with flame or grates. defective!?

The dotted line that you are seeing indicates that the base and hand held receiver have not linked to one another. There are a couple of things to check:

1. Make sure that the receiver and the base both have batteries.

2. Make sure the hand-held receiver is in the thermometer mode by pressing the Mode button.

2. Make sure the base unit is turned on. There is a green LED light on the front of the base that will illuminate when the unit is operating. The switch in on the lower right side of the unit, if you are looking at the front.

3. Make sure the probe plug is push all the way into the plug connector on the base.

3. Place the handheld unit in the base and allow it a few minutes to make the link between the two units. Once the link is established, it should display the temperature that the probe is sensing automatically. You should then be able to select the meat type and other functions.

If you have completed these steps, the unit may be defective. Please contact the CHEFS customer service (1-800-338-3232), and they will work with you to get a replacement.
