Distraction proof!
I love to hear the whistle call me back to the kitchen each time I prepare my tea. No distraction could ever prevent me from answering the call of this well designed, attractive tea kettle!
The handle gets hot, but I keep the provided pad close by, so its not a problem. This attractive handle is worth the small issue.

Whistling kettle
The kettle heats quickly. When pouring the pad that fits the handle totally block out any excess heat. Pouring the contents of the pot is quick, and the top is sealed so that no excess heat burns your hands. Also, the whistle is unique and will definitely wake you up, and your animals as well. This is a good thing.

Great teakettle
I only buy Chantal teakettles, they are easy to clean, last long andl look great in the kitchen.
The red color is great.......

I lost my Chantal Classic Teakettle when our home was totally destroyed by the wildfires in Texas. I used it every day and the whistle never let me down. This is why I purchased a new one.

Great Tea Kettle
This purchase was a replacement for one that I had for 24 years. I would still have the original had I not burned it dry by forgetting to put the whistle cover down.

Chefs, Drop This Item
This is a replacement for the Chantal we bought 12 years ago because our dog loved to sing along with kettles, and he particularly responded to the full, rich sound of the harmonica whistle in this one.Over the years, it got a bit worn so I decided to get a brand new one.
What a disappointment! This is an example of corporate cost-cutting at the expense of quality. It arrived with the whistle in pieces; a screw had come out. We put it back together. It hardly sounds at all, because the shape of the kettle has changed, and the lid is now cheaply made and doesn't fit properly over the opening. It will whistle faintly if you hold the lid down firmly, but who boils water that way?
This item is not up to the level of quality I expect, and always get, from Chef's Catalog.

If it didn't use carbon steel (rusts)
This teakettle (the stainless version) would be perfect if it used 18/10 polished stainless steel throughout, but it says some "parts" are carbon steel - and carbon steel is the pits for rusting. And it does NOT say the stainless steel is 18/10 (which doesn't rust). So disappointing in a kettle that costs enough to be made RIGHT.
I would have given it a mid-range rating, but there is NO excuse for putting ANY carbon steel into a kettle that is used frequently and stays wet most of the time.
If I accidently burn a kettle up, I will buy another maybe the same brand if I was pleased with it. If it gives me long, non-rusting service, I will recommend it to others and give it as a gift. If it RUSTS on me (anywhere), I will never trust or buy anything in that brand again.

Quality product
This is our second Chantal kettle and, although it seems lighter than the first one, it remains a quality product and makes an attractive addition to our cookware. This item is one of the most frequently used in our kitchen and is extremely durable. They last for years!
