This was exactly as described and work as I expected. It is a fantastic way to fix fish. I have not yet tried vegetables. My only disappointment would be that there were no recipes included.

Bamboo Steamers
I had always wanted to try steaming my foods this way and just never made the effort to research the bamboo steamer. I did my research, found these Joyce Chen steamers the best. I looked at many steamers, most had some kind of medal made with in them. I wanted no medal, just all bamboo. I am still learning to use the steamers, have cooked lots of veg's and dumplings and fish. Everything has turned out well. I am looking for a good book on cooking with bamboo steamers. If you are looking for a steamer look no further, Joyce Chen Bamboo steamers are the best buy.

Better if a little larger
The steamer works very well but would be better if it were about 2 inches larger in diameter to make it easier to put a dish in.

Great
I really like the steamer. I found a great idea to steam on a leaf so it is easier to clean and it worked well.

Joyce Chen bamboo Steamer Basket
I recently attened a Pacific Rim cooking class and the instructor had a Joyce Chen bamboo basket. After tasting the food he prepared in this basket, I just had to have one. The quality of the construction is encellent and can hardly wait to use my own.

so happy with this purchase
I have always wanted to get a bamboo steamer.. I am a seafood and vegetable lover but wanted to have a healthier way to prepare them both besides using a wok.. I purchased this item and am really happy with the results. I have used it for shrimp and tilapia...soo good. will actually be purchasing another.

One of my better purchases
I used my steamer for the first time yesterday. It was great I cooked potatoes just quarted they and put in the bottom of the steamer. I also cooked frozen green beans that I had picked and frozen myself. They were both just great taste was fantastic. I just put a liffle black sea salt, fresh ground pepper and some butter on both that was all the seasoning that was needed. Both were done to perfection and were just wonderful. I used my large skillet for the water and boiled some water in the tea kettle just in cast more was needed. My skillet worked just great and in about half an hour we had dinner ready. I cooked them on the steamer alone did not use any plates in the steamer. Just washed in very hot water no soap abd let it dry on the counter. This was almost too easy.
