This multipurpose appliance performs the functions of a slow cooker, oven and stove top. The easiest cleanup ever! This is my second slow cooker and by far the best ever. The non-stick surface of the casserole practically cleans itself. The ability to brown eliminates the need for a second pot or pan and does a great job. I also love the retractible cord. I love this product! June 7, 2012

Cuisinart 7-Quart Multi-Cooker I just used my Quisinart Multi-Cooker for the first time and what a joy not to have to dirty up an extra pan to brown food before putting it in on the slow cooker setting! Love my birthday gift!!! Received this as a birthday gift. This multi cooker is easy to use and easy to clean. I made pot roast this weekend. I liked the fact that I could brown my meat in the multi cooker and then add my other ingredients and proceed to slow cook for another 4 hours. Also like the retractable cord which makes it easy to store. My only complaint is that it makes a humming noise while it's being used, which I think is possibly a fan that circulates the heat. Not sure. Other than that it's a great product. October 26, 2011

MY MOST EFFICIENT AND MOST USED APPLIANCE My new Cuisinart 4-in-1 Multicooker is fast becoming the most used and the most efficient appliance I have in my kitchen. Not only is it an excellent slow cooker, not boiling my dinners as my slow cookers have done in the past, but the searing feature works perfectly. The speed of switching from one cooking method to another is amazing. It is so easy to brown/saute foods, then switch to slow cooking and when done switch to roast to make a gravy or thicken a sauce in little to no time. The steaming feature works great for my veggies. One of the best features is the cast aluminum nonstick cooking pot - no more cracked crocks. I love this awesome appliance and hope never to be without it. The height of the unit is what you have to look at when deciding what size bird will fit in it. It will be a small one that only sits up about 9" tall in the pot (because you don't want it to touch the lid). A small turkey that only sits up 9" high, will easily fit into it because it is 19 1/4"W x 11 3/4"D.

Baked beans??

Has anyone used this to make baked beans? Did you soak them prior to cooking in same pot? How did they turn out?

I have done it 2 ways and they both turn out delicious: 1. soak beans overnight in a large bowl. Drain; put in a large stockpot. Cover with about 5 cups fresh water for 1 Lb. (or 2 1/2 C. dry beans) and simmer over medium-low heat on stovetop until tender, about 1 hour. Drain beans, reserving 2 cups of the liquid.
Add beans to the slow cooker.
2. The night before, combine the dry beans and water in a large saucepan. Bring to a boil, and cook for 1 1/2 hours. Pour beans and their liquid into a bowl, cover and refrigerate overnight. In the morning, drain off liquid, reserving 2 cups. Pour beans and the reserved liquid into the Cuisinart Cook Central crock. In both cases add the other ingredients with the beans and simmer on low for 8-10 hours. Enjoy!
