Use and Care
• Before cleaning, turn off the coffee machine and remove the plug from the outlet. Do not clean the coffee machine when it is hot. Never immerse the base unit in water or any other liquid or place unit under running water.
• Do not use scouring agents or harsh cleansers on any part of the coffee maker.
• Clean the body of the coffee maker with a damp cloth or sponge. Dry before storing.
• It is best to clean the brew basket and carafe daily since coffee oils will build up on them and can impair brewed coffee flavor. The carafe, brew basket and gold-tone permanent filter are dishwasher-safe or may be cleaned by hand in warm, soapy water and rinsed and dried thoroughly.
• For better tasting coffee, replace the charcoal water filter that comes with your coffee maker every three months with normal use. Replace the filter more often under heavy use or hard water conditions.
• Calcium deposits (scale) from water will build up in the coffee maker heat pump over time and impair brewing efficiency and coffee quality. When the coffee maker needs to be cleaned, the "Clean" indicator will flash after a brewing cycle is complete. Once this occurs, follow the descaling instructions in your KitchenAid manual.
