Care and Use

• To clean after use, ensure the power cord is unplugged and the speed control dial is in the off position.
• If the pouring shield is assembled, detach the pour spout then slide the main ring from the mixing bowl.
• Press the tilt-release button and simultaneously use the lift assist handle to raise the mixer head until it locks into the open position.
• Remove the attachment from the attachment shaft then remove the mixing bowl from the bowl locking recess.
• Wash the mixing bowl, pouring shield, spatula, scraper beater, flat beater, wire whip and dough hook in warm soapy water with a soft cloth. Rinse and dry thoroughly. Alternatively, the mixing bowl, pouring shield, spatula and attachments may be washed in the dishwasher (spatula and attachments, top shelf only).
• Do not use abrasive scouring pads or commercial cleaners when cleaning the mixing bowl, pouring shield, spatula, scraper beater, flat beater, wire whip or dough hook as these may scratch the surface. Also ensure that the attachments are not soaked in water for extended periods of time, for example several hours or overnight, as this may damage their finish.
• Wipe the mixer head, attachment shaft and mixer base with a soft, damp cloth then dry thoroughly. Wipe any excess food particles from the power cord.
• Do not wash or immerse the mixer head and mixer base in water or any other liquid. Clean with a soft, damp cloth and dry thoroughly. Do not allow water or any liquid to enter the gear system as damage may result.

Well designed stand mixer I purchased this mixer to replace a Kitchen Aid Artisan mixer that I bought 3 years ago, which had problems. The Breville is a nicer mixer, with a rich looking stainless steel exterior, and well designed handles that make it easy to move (and it's heavy). The bowl is easy to insert and remove - this was a problem I had with the Kitchen Aid, as bowl repeatedly got stuck after mixing. The Brevillle does an excellent job mixing cake and cookie batters. Beware, however, the motor is powerful, and don't do what I did, which is to turn it to its highest speed too quickly, or you will end up with batter on the ceiling! October 30, 2012

In love! I recently purchased the Breville stand mixer, and have already put it through a LOT. By far, the thing that has impressed me the most (besides its sleek design) is the speed at which it mixes dough or whips cream, compared with the hand mixer I'd been using! I've used it for a variety of baking projects in the two weeks since I've gotten it, and the only complaint I can come up with is that the pouring shield is a little cumbersome to attach and to use. Other than that, I think Breville has designed a quality product, and I look forward to many years of use from it. December 3, 2011

Not Mixed Up About This Mixer I am a novice cook who has graduated to making bread and pastries. I also am an engineer who is very fussy about his gear. I needed a mixer that was well designed, well built, powerful, economical and didn't take up all the counter space. Breville is well known throughout the world for high quality appliances. But their stand mixer is very hard to find in the US. I was thrilled to see it offered in the CHEF's Catalog. This is one serious piece of kitchen equipment. It's powerful motor, almost 3/4 HP, mixes bread dough quickly, quietly and smoothly without bouncing off the counter. The speed settings are accurate and repeatable. The count-down timer keeps everything under control. Mixing cake and cookie batter is "a piece of cake". It's built like a battleship yet I can lift it with one hand. Clean up is a joy. Simple construction and everything can go into the dishwasher. The power cord slides into the body. Seems like every detail has been considered. Obviously the folks who designed this unit actually used it. And it's a bargain to boot. June 8, 2011

So far I like the Breville mixer. I love the fact that all my pound cake batter was mixed completely (the scraper beater seemed to help that). I also like the fact that the mixer speeds are indicated in mixing terms rather than numbers. The timer is great as far as keeping track of how long something has been beaten. What I don't like is that it "walks" on the counter . This happened when I was creaming my butter and sugar. I will try it again soon to see if this is a continuing problem or something that I can adjust with my mixing speeds. I don't bake a lot, so hopefully I can figure out how to better set the mixer speed to avoid the "walking". June 13, 2012

Very Good Purchase I was planning for a long time to buy a stand mixer with good power and value for money. I am glad that I purchased Breville stand mixer. It has lot more power than the other brands.The mixer bowl arrived with scratches but Breville customer service sent me a replacement bowl right away. Got the bowl this week and tried it out today. I am really impressed with the quality of the cake batter. July 14, 2011

BREVILLE 5 QT. MIXER What a surprise! This is an amazing machine. I am 61 and have always used handheld electric mixers. This machine makes mixing cookies, muffins, and cake in half the time. I am trying to collect all the Breville products! I have 3 so far! Love them all. June 5, 2011
