I have a larger mandoline that requires setting up, therefore not very convenient. The Kyocera mandoline requires no set up, just take it out of the drawer and it's ready to use.....adjust the slice thickness if needed. I sliced ginger, and it worked beautifully.

I like he simplicity of this slicer. There is no complicated assembly. Because it is flat it stores easily in a drawer with other odd kitchen objects.
It slices very thinly and evenly for my salads. Easy to clean.

disappointed
After reading the great reviews on the mandoline slicer, I purchased it as a gift for my husband to cut eggplant and potatoes. He could not get it to cut anything without making a mess, making partial uneven flimsy slices, and gave up! It was useless; sending it back unfortunately! (no matter which way he turned the thickness dial!)

Nice tool.
Easily slices paper thin or adjusts to thicker slices. Handy to use. Sharpest blade I ever saw.

A Surprise
I bought this mandoline for my husband. I wanted something easy to clean and simple to use. He slices onions for burgers.- period. When it arrived, I was disappointed. It looked cheap and flimsy. I own a $200+ mandoline which is flawless, but cumbersome. After he used "his" mandoline and raved about it, I decided to give it a try when I had a small onion to slice. For that job it was every bit as good as my expensive mandoline. I suspect I will be using "our" mandoline on a regular basis. As for durability - only time will tell, but it was reasonably priced so replacing it at a later date will not bust the budget.

a winner in our kitchen
My husband, who does a lot of the slicing, really likes this Mandoline. Easy to use, no accidental cuts on his fingers.

Couldn't figure out how to adjust thickness/thinness until finding the above instructions as none came in the package.
