So far so good
I typically use toaster ovens for toasting bread, reheating and occasionally for small baking needs. I've been eying this Breville for awhile and based on the reviews I've read on this site and others, I became convinced this would be the right replacement for my sorely missed little Proctor Silex. So far, it's doing a fantastic job with toasting - which I'm particular about. I love that you can adjust the dials digitally, my old one had a knob/timer and once that broke, I had to bid it goodbye. The only "con" is its size, specifically its depth. It's bigger than a Black & Decker or my old Proctor Silex - and I had to rearrange my kitchen counter to make room for it. I was worried that the LED display was "always on" and a big energy zapper, but it goes to sleep mode. I'm very happy with this purchase.

Perfect compact oven
Tis is a replacement oven for a cheaper "big box" brand we purchased 4 years ago that quit on us.
In finding a replacement we needed a compact oven that would be easy to operate and we were not looking for bells and whistles.
We have used this oven for about a month now and found it to be perfect for our needs.
The oven heats quickly, has several preset functions that we find to be very handy.....oh and it cooks toast perfectly too.
We judge it to be of high quality, easy to program and just the right size for our diminutive kitchen.

Product has best features ever
This is the best toaster oven I've ever had. It's memory function is amazing & saves me time since whatever setting I have placed stays there for the next time the oven is used! It's so simple, my daughter has no trouble using it & she loves it too. No more burned toast!
I love it so much I want to purchase one for my Mom for Xmas, since she burns her toast daily!
The only con I see is that the rack position for Broil is a bit too close to the coils, but I solved this by using the middle position instead. The only way you could use the top position would be if you were broiling an extremely thin piece of meat!
Other than this, the oven's perfect & superior to all other brands I've tried!

A must have for any home
I bought this wonderful appliance after I first saw it aired on the Martha Stewart show and she had Jerry Seinfeld's wife as a guest. They were demonstrating some of the wonderful things you could do with this wonderful oven; no one should be without one in their home. after the show, I got online immediately and ordered a Breville Oven, my only regret is that I did not get the larger one. I have roasted chicken, baked pizza, warmed leftovers, toasted bread, and heated soup; the possibilities are endless. I call her "The Breville", she is my best friend and I will never part from her.

The toaster oven of my dreams
I've been yearning for a Breville Smart Oven since I saw it was "Highly Recommended" by Cooks Illustrated, but the original model was too large for my kitchen. I was thrilled to discover that Chef's Catalog featured a new, compact model that fits my small space. I'm even more thrilled with the superb results: toast, English muffins, baked apples have all turned out perfectly. The solid construction, attractive design, comprehensive manual, and ease of use are extras, but the performance is brilliant. I appreciate the ability to set the rack at three different positions. The enameled steel baking pan with broiler rack are sturdy and clean easily. The digital display is large and easy to read, and the oven can be set to precise temperatures; the oven even "beeps" to announce that preheating is finished, and the desired temperature has been reached. It also operates very quietly. The only negative is that the cord is a bit short. While the price is higher than most toaster ovens, this is worth every penny! I would absolutely recommend it to anyone looking for the best multi-purpose appliance, especially if counter space is limited.

A replacement for an older model
We toast our bread each morning in a toaster oven. I was really looking for a replacement of about the same size. This oven is WAY more than that! Since there are only two of us, this will be used for many small oven chores as well as our morning toast - which comes out perfect! I especially like the crumb tray that slides out from the front for easy cleanup.

Perfect product for a single ladies kitchen.
I love to cook but mostly do it for myself so the Breville Compact oven is the perfect answer to preparing small meals and it doesn't take up much room in my small kitchen. Simple to operate...use it every day.

The toaster oven of my dreams
This is so much more than a toaster oven. I use it to bake small casseroles, meats for one or two as well as toasting my bagels to perfection. I'm still experimenting with English muffins to get them perfect, but those have always been a challenge. I regret paying for the convection option on my microwave, now that I have this wonderful oven! And to top it all off, it looks gorgeous on my counter!
The only improvement I would make is to insulate it just a bit more...I don't heat plates all that often and would prefer the top not get quite as hot as it does,.
I LOVE IT!
