Use and Care
Before using your Tramontina enameled cast-iron Dutch oven for the first time, hand wash with warm soapy water and dry thoroughly.
Although the enamel finish on your 3.5-qt. Dutch oven does not require seasoning, we do recommend seasoning areas where the cast-iron is exposed. This includes the bottom of the vessel and lid rim. Season by lightly rubbing cooking oil onto surface, then heat the covered braiser in the oven for one hour at 350 F (176 C) and let cool before using.
The Tramontina enameled cast-iron Dutch oven is oven-safe up to 450 F (232 C). The enameled surfaces are not suitable for dry cooking. Add a liquid, butter or oil to the bottom of the cookware prior to heating. Always use protective mitts to safely handle hot cookware.
To better protect the cookware surface, use silicone, nylon, bamboo or wood utensils. Using metal utensils or sharp objects may damage the cooking surface and void the warranty. Enameled cast-iron is extremely durable but may become damaged if accidentally dropped or knocked against another hard surface.
Only hand wash and dry your 3-qt. Dutch oven to preserve the original finish. For hard-to-clean, stuck-on foods, soak the round Dutch oven in hot, soapy water and re-season as directed. Avoid sudden temperature changes such as immersing hot cookware in cold water.
Use only nylon or soft abrasive pads or brushes to remove stubborn residues. Do not use metallic pads or harsh abrasive chemicals, as these will damage the enamel.
When using the cookware on ceramic glass stove tops, always lift when moving the cookware (do not slide) to avoid scratching the cooktop.
Never store your Tramontina enameled cast-iron Dutch oven when it is still damp. Allow the 3-qt. Dutch oven to dry thoroughly by placing the cookware in an airy space, away from kitchen steam. Be careful when stacking or nesting your cookware. Bumping or knocking against other pieces may scratch or chip the exterior and interior surfaces.

Perfect little dutch oven for small batches of home-made sauces and soups. A lot of times the 6qt dutch oven is just too large. If you like to cook with cast iron the enameled interior will allow you to make tomato based sauces and soups. Good for braising if you have a small chunk of meat. Clean-up is easy. I remove stains with a little baking soda and a nylon pad, but don't usually have to.
The porcelain-enameled cast iron does require a little care. You've got to be patient and allow yourself extra time to cook, high heat can damage the cookware, use low to medium. It takes a while to get a boil on low, but it will happen. Never use metal utensils they will scratch, use wood, nylon, or silicone. Take care not to drop, bang, or even stack the cookware, it will chip the enamel.
Overall the extra care is worth the outcome. Even heat. Oven-safe to 450.Tender meat, savory sauces and stews. And it looks good.
