Use and Care
Seasoning: Prior to first use, clean the Mauviel M'steel carbon steel fry pan with very hot water to remove the beeswax from the entire pan. Wipe away any waxy residue with paper towel. Use a paper towel to wipe the interior of the pan with any type of flavorless cooking oil. Heat the pan for 5 minutes while empty. When the oil liquefies, turn the heat off. When pan is cool, drain the oil and wipe clean with paper towels. Repeat the process a second time.
After cooking, wash the round carbon steel skillet in hot water, wipe with a soft sponge and dry thoroughly. Do not use dish soap or remove the black layer that forms at the bottom of the French skillet. It will make a solid film and create a non-stick surface. Dry thoroughly to prevent rusting and store in a dry area.
Always use protective pot holders or oven mitts when handling hot cookware.
