The tight-fitting lid traps steam to seal in flavors and self-baste foods. The versatile oven goes from refrigerator to oven or stovetop, then looks handsome on the table before storing leftovers in the freezer. The mainstay of French chefs for nearly a century, Le Creuset cookware features bold and bright colors in a variety of shapes and sizes to suit any culinary need and home décor. Care and Use Instructions
• Select low to medium heat for best results.
• Select the size of your heat source so that it is as close as possible to the base size of your pan. This will prevent energy loss and overheating of the handle.
• Gently pre-heat utensil on low setting for 2 - 3 minutes then add oil or liquid to the pan.
• Use only wooden, plastic, silicone or heat resistant nylon tools, to avoid scratching the enamel.
• Use a potholder or oven glove to lift metal handled pan from the stovetop or oven.
• Stand hot pan on a Le Creuset trivet, board or cloth, not directly on unprotected counter tops.
• When using pan on ceramic or halogen stovetops, always lift pan (do not slide) to move.
• If a pan is banged against a hard surface or is dropped, it may chip or break.
• Safe for oven or broiler use up to 400 F.
• To maintain the beauty of your pan's finish, hand-washing is recommended in warm sudsy water with a nylon brush or pad.
• Cool pan before washing in dishwasher or in hot soapy water. Rinse and dry thoroughly. Do not leave to drain or put away while still damp.
• Remove stubborn food residues with a plastic or sponge scourer only - do not use metal scourers or abrasive cleaners of any kind.

Beauty and Functionality I always dreamed of getting my first Le Creuset and it was worth the wait. Some could say it's very heavy - more than 15 pounds - but that is one of the features that make it such a great pot to cook with. Great for braising, sauteing and everything else imaginable, not to mention that it goes from the cook top straight to the oven - you just need to change the lid knob for the stainless steel one,. Great French Oven! I recently purchased the Le Creuset 9.5 oval French Oven in Kiwi. I love the way it looks, the color is great! I made a pot roast in it over the weekend, which is how I intend to use the pot, and it came out wonderfully, and was easy to clean. Le Crueset 9.5 quart oval french oven Do not hesitate to invest in this piece! I cook all the time and this is my favorite pot. I use it to make everything from chili to French daubes, braised short ribs, beef bourguignonne....on and on. Yes, the pot is heavy but that is the beauty of this piece. heat is distributed evenly so your dish does not burn or stick. there are no downsides to this piece and it will last a lifetime! Don't hesitate on making this purchase! After going back and forth on whether or not I would utilize a dutch oven this large, I finally jumped in and made the investment. Wow - best purchase for my kitchen!! You don't have to worry about your dish bubbling over because the pot is too small. It's just my husband and I (no kids) and we use this all the time to double recipes so there will be plenty of leftovers later.
