Condo/Apartment Compatible
Completed installation this morning and moved into kitchen for immediate use. Packing was inadequate and parts were damaged upon receipt. Two boxes, both heavy, probably encourages rough handling by delivery personnel. Prompt and courteous replacement of damaged parts. Material used for sides and back were surprise, as had expected higher grade material; however, very functional as is. Instructions and illustrations lack clarity, but can be deciphered, slowly, by average handiman. Shelving full length of cart would have been preferable to accommodate indoor electric BBQ, as well as a couple of other items used infrequently. Shelving seperators lack solid positioning and will probably have to be glued into place to prevent obstruction of front door openings. Caster locks fragile, one fails to activate at all and will probably break if more pressure is applied; however, when unit was placed in storage position it does not role without activating the braking mechanism. Additional holes for shelve positioning to accommodate a wider range of kitchen items would be appreciated. Top and front doors material is exceptionally nice, and make impressive presentation within kitchen. Top appears very functional and useful. Condo/Apartment compatible for the small kitchen to accommodate infreqent need for more meal preparation space, as well as storage for such as toaster, bbq, seldom used pots, pans and utensils. A knife storage rack in the top drawer would have been appreciated, but loose storage works OK. Recommended for anyone with small kitchen with need for occasional additional baking, or meal preparation space.

Best Purchase ever
Should have made the purchase sooner (10/15 years ago). Finally in updating my kichen - needed to clear counter tops in order to show off new granite. The island was the ideal solution to clearing and storing. Use everday. What did I do without it!!!!!!

Fits my needs perfectly.
I had a much larger island in my kitchen which was really too big for the space. I bought this one so that I would still have extra prep area. It fits perfectly and adds to the decor of my kitchen. I thought that I would be short on inside storage but all of my pans fit but one. The finish is very nice and yes, it took 2 friends 3 hours to put the island together, but it was worth it. The price was right from the Chef's website too.

Nice Quality Product
Made of high quality material and very easy to assemble. Wood is not treated and is a little lighter than the photo. You could stain it if you wish, except the top of course. The side cabinets aren't very wide so it's limited to what you can store in there. A large bowl would not fit but a toaster or small food processor would.

PLEASED AFTER CORRECTIONS
The kitchen island is very much as we imagined it would be except for the one end panel which is almost blond in color and contrasts radically with the rest of the varigated wood colors on the piece. After we discovered that several key pieces of assembly hardware were missing, the maker sent replacements by overnight mail and we were then able to assemble the cabinet in about 5 hours. Thanks to the drawings on the assembly pages, we were able to put the island together....the written instructions should be redone by someone who just assembled the piece and who has the ability to describe the steps more clearly. Overall, we are now very pleased with the finished product and glad we purchased it.

A Fabulous Item for most any kitchen
My husband and I purchased this as we were moving into our home here on the Big Island. We needed extra storage and this Island fit perfectly into the space where we can access what we need as well as move it around as we prepare meals. It is beautifully crafted and it adds so much to the kitchen's envirnoment.

A Nice Addition
We have a small kitchen and prep area is always at a premium. After taking measurements and looking at what was available for our space my wife and I decided we would give it a try.
It arrived in two boxes; total weight about 125 lbs. Everything was very neatly packed and the directions for assembly are very straight-forward. Assembly time for me was about 4-1/2 hrs. No surprises and everything went together quite well. For a mass production piece; the quality is quite good. The only improvment I would like to see is in regards to the drawer glide rails..."they work but they could be better".
The knife rack is a nice touch; and the hardware including the handles are of good quality.
Even with it being on casters; the cart is quite sturdy (we have it backed up to a wall), sturdy enough for kneading bread. I didn't think we were going to like the casters but in function they actually work quite well and allow the cart to be easily moved for cleaning.
Certainly one the things that we both enjoy about this cart is its appearance. The raised panel doors are well made and the butcher-block top is really very nice. We have received several compliments from friends on how nice it looks.
One more note on assembly....if you hate putting things together as much as I do....don't let this keep you from getting this cart. Just allow yourself plenty of time; lay all the little parts out into their own piles; fix yourself a drink and have at it. For the price...it really is a very nice addition.
