Heat large, deep skillet over medium high heat. Place bacon in skillet and fry until crisp, 5 to 8 minutes. Remove from skillet and drain on paper towels. Crumble into a small bowl and set aside.
Reduce heat to medium under skillet with rendered bacon fat. Add okra, onion, bell pepper, and celery. Sauté 5 to 6 minutes. Add stewed tomatoes, and season with salt and pepper to taste. Cover and reduce heat. Let simmer 7 to 10 minutes until okra is tender. Stir in crumbled bacon and serve. Makes 4 to 6 servings, as a side.
