Bake a white cake in a 9-inch X 13-inch pan. Let it cool and then poke holes in the cake with a long meat fork or the handle of a wooden spoon. Mix the gelatin flavor of your choice with 1-1/2 to 2 cups boiling water. Stir. Then pour the liquid slowly and carefully over the cake so it goes down all the holes. Put the cake in the refrigerator to cool. Then spread whipped cream over the chilled cake.
