Cinnamon Roll Waffles

Cinnamon Roll Waffles


3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 tablespoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons butter, melted
2-1/2 cups all purpose flour
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1-1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup buttermilk
1/4 cup butter, melted
2 tablespoons butter, softened

Cooking Instructions

In a bowl, combine filling ingredients and use a fork to stir to combine. Set aside.

In a small bowl, whisk together buttermilk and melted butter.

In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Create a well in the center of the dry ingredients. Pour buttermilk mixture into center of well. Stir flour into buttermilk, until dough comes together. Do not over mix.

Turn dough onto floured surface and knead lightly to form dough into ball. Using a rolling pin, roll dough out into a large rectangle, between 1/4- and 1/2 inch thick. Brush surface of dough with light coat of softened butter. Spread filling evenly across the butter-coated surface.

Starting with the long edge, roll the dough into a log, cinnamon roll style. Roll the dough tight enough that the cinnamon mixture will stay compressed between the layers of dough. Avoid leaving gaps in the roll that will allow the filling to spill out. Pinch seam closed.

Preheat waffle maker. Spray waffle plates with nonstick spray.

Slice the roll into 1/2-inch thick pieces. Place slices in waffle maker, one slice per waffle area. Close waffle and let cook 5 to 8 minutes until cooked through. Each waffle maker is a little different; adjust cooking time to your waffle maker.

Serve hot with butter and syrup.
