Teriyaki Sauce

Teriyaki Sauce

Ingredients

6 ounces pineapple juice
1/4 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup sesame oil
2 tablespoons sweet rice wine
2-1/2 tablespoon dark brown sugar, packed
2 teaspoons minced garlic
2-1/2 teaspoons minced ginger
1/4 teaspoon crushed pepper flakes, optional

Cooking Instructions

In a small pan over medium heat, combine ingredients and whisk together. Heat 8 to 10 minutes until sugar is dissolved. Allow to cool completely to use as a marinade or flavoring. Makes about 1-1/2 cups of marinade.

Note: If using as a marinade, do not re-use as a dipping sauce to prevent illness caused by cross-contamination.

Variation: To use as a dipping sauce or a glaze, bring mixture to a boil over medium heat. Reduce heat to simmer and whisk in a cornstarch slurry (1/2 tablespoon of cornstarch dissolved in a tablespoon of water). Simmer, stirring constantly, until thickened 3 to 4 minutes.
