Cherry Ice Cream
|2 cups||heavy cream |
|1 cup||whole milk|
|3/4 cup||white granulated sugar|
|1 tablespoon||vanilla extract|
|1||whole vanilla bean pod|
|2 cups||fresh cherries, pits removed and cut into fourths|
1. In mixing bowl, combine heavy cream, milk and sugar. Stir until sugar completely dissolves. Stir in vanilla extract. Split vanilla bean using point of sharp knife. Scrape seeds from pod and add to mixture. Add cherries. Stir to mix.
2. Pour mixture into ice cream maker and follow manufacturer's directions for processing and churning the ice cream.
3. Spoon soft ice cream into freezer-safe container and freeze for 4 hours or overnight before serving. Makes 1 quart or 8 servings
