Four Homemade Sauces You’ll Want to Pour-On Everything

It’s grill season, which means you need an arsenal of sauces ready at your fingertips. So, we pulled together four versatile homemade sauces that go great with everything from meat and seafood to vegetables and bread. You’ll probably have a harder time finding foods they won’t go with!

Not only are they incredibly easy to make, they all use fresh ingredients (Paleo and Whole30 friendly too!). You can't always say that with store-bought sauces.

CHEFS Cowboy Butter Sauce

1 c.butter, melted
Juice of 1/2 a lemon
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 small shallot, minced
2 tbsp.Dijon mustard"
1 tbsp. horseradish
¼ tsp. cayenne pepper
1/4 tsp.paprika
2 tbsp.Freshly Chopped Parsley
1 tbsp.freshly chopped chives
2 tsp.minced thyme
kosher salt
Freshly ground black pepper


In a small bowl, combine butter, lemon juice, garlic, shallot, mustard, horseradish, cayenne, and paprika. Whisk to combine.

Stir in parsley, chives and thyme and season with salt and pepper.

Great With: grilled meats, like steak or chicken, cornbread, and grilled corn.

Sugar-Free BBQ Sauce

1 Tbsp grass-fed butter or ghee
1 cup sweet onion, diced small
1 Tbsp Coconut Aminos
3-4 cloves of garlic, minced
1 tsp cumin
1 tsp dry mustard powder
1 tsp oregano
1 tsp basil
1 tsp chipotle chili powder
1 Tbsp chili powder
1 can (6 oz) tomato paste
1 1/2 cups chicken stalk
2 Tbsp apple cider vinegar

Heat butter or ghee in a saucepan and saute onion for 3-4 minutes until translucent then add garlic.

Add all remaining ingredients and bring to a boil.

Once you reach a boil, turn down the heat, cover the pan and let it simmer for 20 minutes.

Great With: Chicken, Pork, and Sandwiches

Boom Boom Sauce

¼ cup mayonnaise
1 Tbsp ketchup
1 Tbsp sweet chili sauce
1 tsp garlic powder
¾ tsp Sriracha

Combine all ingredients in a bowl and stir to combine.

Keep refrigerated until ready to use.

Great With: Fish Tacos, Asian noodles, Rice, Sandwiches, and Shrimp

Creamy Chipotle Sauce

1 cup canned full-fat coconut milk
1/2 tsp chipotle chili pepper spice/powder
3 chipotle peppers in adobo
1 tbsp. adobo sauce
1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro


Put all of the ingredients in a blender or food processor until smooth.

Great With: Pork, Tacos, Shrimp, and Vegetables
